The euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 11.5% in July 2014, stable compared with June 2014, but down from 11.9% in July 2013. In July 2014, the youth unemployment rate was 21.7% in the EU28 and 23.2% in the euro area, compared with 23.6% and 24.0% respectively in July 2013. This is the lowest rate for the EU28 since September 2011 and for the euro area since June 2012. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. Leer ms

The number of young people not in education, employment or training (Neets) has fallen to its lowest level since 2005, according to official figures. The Office for National Statistics said the number of Neets had fallen to 955,000 in the three months to June a drop of 138,000 when compared to the same period last year.
