Movember is a growing a moustache for charity in a bid to raise awareness about men´s health - prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues such as depression. The campaign is about real men growing real moustaches and talking about real issues. The Moustache is a ribbon for men’s health. Like breast cancer awareness, it´s a global movement.

Movember is a month-long global event in November where men grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men´s health to support prostate cancer and men´s mental health initiatives, and as part of our Global Action Plan (GAP), testicular cancer.

The campaign  started in Melbourne, Australia 10 years ago, in 2003 when a group of friends decided to revive an old fashioned trend - the moustache together they raised 40,000 euros.

Since Movember began, facial hair, including mustaches, have come back into style. Whether it be a fashion statement or a show of superstition one of the main rules is that all Movember participants must start the month off clean shaven, so men who have been sporting the look for a while who suddenly shave draw a lot of attention to the cause.

How do I get involved?

The first thing you need to do is register.Once you´ve registered, it´s up to you as to how you want to get involved, however the main purpose in to grow making men grow their
moustache. Each participant must begin the 1st of November with a clean shaven face. They must grow and groom a moustache for the whole month.
They cannot have a beard - which means no joining your sideburns to your beard, nor they can join the chin to the handlebars. They´ve got a fantastic app that connects you with what everyone else around the world is doing too. Download it here.

Where does the money go?

Funds raised around the world are directed to our programmes, which are shaped by our vision to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. The programmes are delivered by the Movember Foundation and our men’s health partners in each country. The funds raised are directed to programmes run directly by Movember and our men´s health partners.
