Forum on the rights of persons with disabilities to promote solutions for disabled people
A Work Forum on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (United Nations Convention) will take place in Brussels on 29 April. The The Forum will bring together representatives of those responsible for implementing and monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention, both at EU and national level.
The Work Forum aims at ensuring that the UN Convention is fully implemented. It allows to share experiences on its practical implementation and monitoring and to promote solutions to common challenges. It is organised by the European Commission and meets every year since 2010.
This year, the Work Forum will focus on:
Improving synergies between the EU and the national level in the implementation of the UN Convention.
The implementation of the UN Convention is a shared task: both the EU and the vast majority of its Member States are parties to the UN Convention and they implement it within their respective competences.
What could be done differently to implement the UN Convention in the EU?
The EU´s implementation will be under scrutiny this year by the UN Convention´s committee. Those who have contributed to this examination through an alternative report will present their main findings and make concrete proposals for improvement.
Registration for the conference can be made only upon invitation.
