Erasmus+ arrives to Hungary

Erasmus+ will be launched in Budapest today (12 March) by European Commissioner for Education and the country´s Minister of Human Resources, Zoltán Balog.

Erasmus+ will have a total budget of €14.7 billion over the next seven years – 40% more than under previous programmes. It will provide grants for more than four million people to study, train, gain work experience or volunteer abroad. Nearly 100 000 Hungarians are expected to receive Erasmus+ grants between now and 2020.

Between 2007 and 2013, nearly 65 000 Hungarian students, young people and education, training and youth staff received funding from the EU´s Lifelong Learning and Youth in Action programmes.

In 2014, Hungary will receive €31 million from Erasmus+, an 11% increase compared with the funding it received in 2013 from the former Lifelong Learning and Youth in Action Programmes. It is envisaged that the amount Hungary receives will increase each year up to 2020. Hungarians can also benefit further from the Jean Monnet action for European integration studies in higher education and grants for transnational sports projects and.
