Our internal virtual reality is what we ordinarily call ´external realiy´ or ´reality´ tout court. We provide here, following Richard Dawkins, a brief explanation of the way the brain constructs an internal model of reality which is then passed off as the real thing. The concord between this materlalist theory of the mind and of virtual reality, stemming from neurological studies, and some early modern philosophical theories of perception and phenomenology is then pointed out.
